PHP, IOP, community supports, and sober living—fully connected. No referrals, no gaps, no starting over. Your care team knows you, and your recovery stays intact as you move through levels.
Founded by Shawn Richardson, who's spent 20 years building the Seacoast's strongest sober living network. We know what works—because we've lived it and refined it for two decades.
Detox gets you sober. We help you stay that way. Our model is designed for the hard part: rebuilding life, routines, relationships, and resilience after the fog clears.

PHP ↔ IOP ↔ Sober Living with no gaps in care. Step up or down without starting over.
Founded by Shawn Richardson, who's run recovery housing for nearly two decades.
Peer coaches, case managers, transportation, and family involvement—not just clinic time.
Sober living seamlessly connected with treatment, not a separate referral.
We track what matters: stability, recovery capital, housing, work—not just sobriety.
Serving Dover, Portsmouth, Rochester for 20+ years. We know this community.

Shawn Richardson founded Hearthwell Recovery after two decades of running some of the Seacoast’s most trusted sober living homes. He knows what it takes to stay sober—not because he read it in a textbook, but because he’s walked alongside hundreds of people finding their way back to stability.
Shawn saw too many people fall through the cracks between detox and real life. So he built Hearthwell to close those gaps: integrated treatment, housing, and community support that moves with you, not against you.

No. While we strongly recommend it for the best outcomes, you can participate in PHP or IOP and live elsewhere if you have stable housing. We'll work with you to create the right plan.
It varies based on your needs. Most clients spend 2-4 weeks in PHP, then step down to IOP for 6-8 weeks. Our model is flexible—you can step up or down as needed without restarting.
